Our vision for the New Town East has inspired a masterplan that is built around people, enabling them to curate their own experiences. Residential areas will each have their own identity, based around sustainable transport: streets will be centred on play and shared experiences, not the car.
This sociable streets concept we are proposing means that by prioritising cycling and walking we will open the environment up to people, creating more opportunities for children to play and neighbours to come together.
There will be something for everyone at the New Town East, with the provision of new sports pitches, parkland, play areas, allotments, community gardens and orchards. The urban quarter of Waterbeach will provide a vibrant day-time and evening economy with shops, restaurants, schools, a Sixth Form College, workspaces and leisure opportunities.
All of this will be easily accessible to residents of the existing Village, with ample new cycling and walking routes providing easy access to the New Town East.
Waterbeach New Town East will create a powerful sense of belonging: a place to live and grow old in, giving you somewhere to claim as your own and share your experiences.
